United for a Cause
During the Women's Suffrage movement, many women across the United States and the world united for a large cause. When women did not have as many rights including the right to vote, they were criticized simply for being women. They had the disadvantage of being unable to vote, and in the face of this they came together and rallied for their rights. When people are disadvantaged and criticized, like in the quote from The Great Gatsby, they often come together to conquer the issue. Not only in women's suffrage but all throughout history, those with disadvantages have succeeded even when the odds are against them. The disadvantaged should not be criticized because they often have more power than others think. They are strong, and from working through their problems they have acquired willpower, which is crucial in creating change. If the disadvantages are controllable, in the case of women's suffrage, the disadvantaged often try to change their situation. Women held protests and fought for their rights until they were able to vote and were treated more equally.
